LRRPs, then I came to the 3/4 Cav.,But I don't know what Troop I was with. CRS I guess. I do remember Xmas and the Bob Hope show....I came to Nam on 3-29-68, I don't remember when I came to the 3/4 Cav. But I think it was around Oct. 68. Sorry I don't remember more but the VA says I am 100% DAV due to PTSD. There was a guy nicknamed Poncho, I then got the name "The Frisco Kid" as my home of records ws San Francisco. I was an APC driver when I came to the Cav. But my track took an RPG in the differencial and I then became an M-60 gunner on another track. Thought your readers might appreciate it So, Bill Clinton is finally going to Vietnam. I'm glad to hear that. I think he'll enjoy the place. I was there about 32 years ago, along with a few of my buddies, just about the time he was gallivanting around England. And, if he's anything like us, when he returns home he'll have memories that will last a lifetime. In fact, maybe he won't even be able to get Vietnam out of his mind...WE SURE CAN'T!!! I wonder, though, if people will spit on him when he returns home, like they did us. Howard Hathcock P.O. Box 1772 Roseburg OR 97470 541-440-3827 9/15/00 |

Name: Marie Gertken Website: Referred by: Just Surfed On In From: Minnesota Time: 2000-08-28 10:49:27 Comments: A buddy of my father, Ed Apodaca, is ill. Eddie was in the 3/4 Cav 25th Infantry and was in Veitnam in 1966. He was known as the Angry Apache. Eddie contracted Hepatitus C during a blood transfusion many years ago. The disease has attacked his liver and we do not know how much longer he will be with us. He is not able to do as much as he used to, like teaching boxing to area youths. Eddie and his wife Theresa have four children and several grandchildren. If you have a moment to drop Eddie a note or a card, I know he'd appreciate it. Our families have visited each other several times and my parents just spent several days with them a couple weeks ago. Eddie is in good spirits as he always is. Thank you. Name: John C White Website: Charlie Troop Referred by: Clicked on a 'Guestbooks by GuestWorld' Button From: Palmdale, Ca. Time: 2000-04-09 19:20:41 Comments: I recieved the following E-Mail from James Brian "Doc" O'Keeffe.....Can anyone Help? First, I served as a medic with Alpha Troop 3/4 Cav 68-69. While surfin' the net a few days ago, I came across a request for information. The request had been posted by a friend of a guy who had been wounded in RVN. The friend listed the man's name as Larry Tomovick and the unit as A Trp, with a date of wounding as January 1969. I didn't recall the name, but that not unusual given that many nicknames weere used and plus the time factor. Anyway, long story made short, the friend had mistakenly listed the wrong unit, Larry was with Charlie Troop and was wounded on 17 Janaury 1969. Larry had been a tanker when a RPG hit his tank, and he lost his left leg at the hip, right hand, and most of his vision. However, I remembered Larry as I had started the IV on him before Docs Freeland, Hitchcock, Bird and I put him in a slick gunship for the evacuation to Cu Chi. Nevertheless, Larry is seeking his tank commander, a SSG [sp] Millam, who saved Larry's life by placing his belt around Larry's stump as a tourniquet. Larry also remebers a "Smiley" as driver and a Bob Grimes. Can you help Larry? Larry's address is: Larry Tomovick 3815 N Avenue Anacortes, WA 98221 (360) 293-4580 lltomovick@web.tv All the best and Thank You, James Brian "Doc" O'Keeffe brianokeef@aol.com |
