          A Troop:  NOP FSB Hampton.  At 250700, Oct departed NOP to be-
gin road sweep.  At 250930 Oct,  linked up with 1/5 Flame Plt to                             Cleared for

tion:  XT488204.  At 251800, 1st Plt at CP 139, enroute to FSB
Hampton.  At 251800 Oct, 2nd and 3rd Plts at XT540298.

          B Troop:  NOP XT529329. At 242120 Oct, in NOP, received 10-15
mortar rds, 1 RPG rd, and SA fire, on 320 AZ, 300 meters out.
Also mortars from 500 to 600 meters out.  Engaged with SA, Night
Hawk, Shadow, Arty, and LFT.  Results unknown.  US casualties; 1-
WIA, dusted off.  At 251040 Oct, 2nd Plts securing Rome Plows at XT-
526828, and 1 Plt still at NOP.  At 251717 Oct, closed in NOP XT-
529329.

          C Troop:  2 Plts at Cu Chi Base Camp for maintenance stand                    JOHN T. WELLS 
down.  Late Entry: At 241600 Oct, XT558308 spotted 3 VC in open.                  CPT, ARMOR
Gunship engaged, resulting in 3 enemy BC.  At 241735 Oct, XT558-                 S3
308,  C Trp 2nd Plt (reacting to 2/12th), received RPG and automa-
tic weapons fire from unknown enemy size force.  Engaged with SA,
LFT.  Results of contact: US casualties, 6-WIA and 2KIA.  Enemy
casualties, 62-BC and found 7 AK-47s, and 1 RPG-7 rocket launch-
er.  At 251547 Oct, 2nd Plt enroute to Cu Chi.  At 251627 Oct, 2nd
Plt at CP 140.  At 251710 Oct, 2nd Plt arrived at Cu Chi Base Camp.

          D Troop:  OPCON to 25th Avn Bn.  Conduct dawn and dusk patrols.
Maintained status to support Rangers and Operation Pizza.  Pro-
vided LST to 2nd and 3rd Bdes.  Conducted Cruise and Kill,  Psycho
Killer and Nighthawk as directed.

          HHT:  Provided logistical and administrative support for line                    25            1800
